The main airport in Liverpool is the Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The Airport is located close to the River Mersey and to the south of the city itself. It is named after the famous Beatles band member John Lennon who was also a peace activist. There are many domestic flights available and also a vast range of international flights to Europe, North Africa and also some to North America.

The prospect for the Airport was extremely good during the mid noughties but towards 2009 onwards there has been some decline in the number of passengers using the services.
